Rescue Me ID: 17-01-29-00348Chiqui (female)

Cavalier Mix    Age: Adult

Personality: Average Energy
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hello! I'm Chiqui ('cheeky') and I'm looking for my forever home. I'm 18 lbs of pure adorable. Inside I like playing with my toys and really like playing fetch with tennis balls. I love the speed and agility required! I really love being outside on walks and exploring the world. I always make sure I have a toy with me, and I'm not a big puller or barker. I'm house trained and crate trained. I'm good at understanding what's a toy and what's off-limits, and won't take food off of tables or shelves without permission. I'm shy and will warn off strangers who approach me too fast, but if you're patient and give me my space after a couple days I ... (Read More)will be snuggling and asking for rubs. I'm sooooo cute that people have trouble believing I might actually be scared of them. Children will probably have a hard time learning to be my friend, so I'd prefer a quiet household without many strangers. I'm usually fine with other dogs and humans out on walks-- my foster parents walk me every day on a busy bike path. But I'm not sure if I want to live with another dog full-time, especially if he's too playful. Chiqui is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines. Chiqui is being fostered in Somerville, MA. The adoption fee is $350 If you are interested in finding out more about Chiqui, please fill out an application on our website by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: http://www.brokentailrescue.org/adoption-application/ We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label (Less)

The Cavalier King Charles is descended from toy spaniels seen in sixteenth through eighteenth century paintings. King Charles II was the inspiration for Cavalier King Charles spaniels as he owned and was painted with similar small dogs. King Charles Spaniels were the subject of an edict from the King that the dogs could not be prohibited from any public place including the houses of Parliament. About half of all Cavaliers have a congenital blood disorder characterized by an insufficient level of platelets, and may develop bleeding and clotting problems.
